TAX REFORM

If elected to the Senate, I would eliminate the Federal Income Tax & Death Tax and force the Federal Government to balance its budget and pay down the deficit. (While negotiating these details I would ensure that the "Bush Tax Cuts" did not expire). I would institute a Presidential line-item veto and ban pork-barrel projects. I would support a minimal Fair-Tax or Flat-Tax option.

I would ensure that we do NOT undertake any form of internet tax or "VAT." I will fight against upcoming increases in the Capital Gains & Dividends Taxes, failure to index the AMT which will trap an additional 24 million families, increased Marriage penalties, decreased Child tax credit, limits on HSAs & FSAs, increased business taxes and decreased business deductions, limits on educational tax credits and charitable deductions; and pending new taxes on health insurance benefits! (This is ALL on the way folks, if we don't stop it. Plus, the income tax rate is increasing by as much as 5% up to almost 40% of income. Can you imagine what will happen if they add a VAT? Some of you will be paying more than 60% of your income to the government before they are finished with you!)

To combat the need for increased taxes, I would shrink the size of the Federal Government and drastically reduce all their non-essential expenditures, THUS SEVERELY DECREASING THEIR TAX REQUIREMENTS. Basically, they are responsible for National Defense & declarations of War, the State Department, Space Exploration, the Treasury & Taxation, regulation of commerce with foreign nations and among the states, punishment of counterfeiting & piracies on the High Seas, the Post Office, Federal Courts inferior to the Supreme Court, a Militia to prevent insurrection or repel invasion, Copyright & Patents, the District of Columbia ... and Immigration. 

Let's get them the heck out of everything else, re-affirm the Tenth Amendment, block the abuse of the Commerce Clause and empower the states to control their roads, health-care, education etc. Basically, any Federal function that could be undertaken at a state level should be "offloaded" from the Federal "Menu". Most of these functions should be farmed out to private enterprise, even at a state level. In fact, government throughout the land should be encouraged to operate at a profit just like private enterprise wherever possible; or sell the franchise to provide the particular service at a profit to the citizens.

I would also take the USPS away from the feds; and in fact probably ban it entirely. (Why do we need this monstrosity now that we have e-mail, Satellite-Phones, T.V., BlackBerrys, Texting, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, UPS & FedEx?)

I would abolish the Federal Department of Education and so much of the current federal function that the feds would be left with little more than National Defense, Military matters & International Diplomatic functions, D.C., the Federal Judiciary and a Central Bank (God forbid).
