I wish to take this opportunity to thank all of my supporters for their confidence and their vote for me in the GOP Primary for the U.S. Senate from Florida on 24^th August 2010. ~ All 82,406 of you!

It was a tremendous experience. I learnt a lot, including the fact that we were ‘A Day Late & A Dollar Short!’ Well, perhaps more than a dollar! Note that newcomer Rick Scott won his Primary race for Governor with a mere $40 million in personal investment! That works out at slightly more than $67 dollars spent for each of Scott’s 599,698 votes compared to my cost/vote of approx. ¢33. This is even more interesting when you understand that Scott beat McCollum by less than 3%. I believe that together, they spent around $70 million combined on the 2010 GOP Primary for Florida Governor!

But I’m not complaining, this IS what it is. Next time we just have to be better prepared. A good analogy is that you can’t graduate from college until some time after you attend kindergarten! I believe we got as far as a "High School" education in politics during the last year. Now we have got to complete the "college courses" in time for the next contest. (And, by the way we were blessed with a number of talented supporters who have signed-on to help for the next run).

So I’m planning to sit back for a few months and watch the Rubio/Crist saga play out. Then we’ll be back in the fray in the New Year of 2011 for a better funded & organized shot at Bill Nelson’s U.S. Senate seat from Florida in 2012.
