Pensacola Retired Teachers ~ 19 August 2010
We drove up from mid-Florida yesterday in our battered Caddy.
Someone ran into Les while she was at a traffic light in Clermont. But
luckily: a) she was 'only' whiplashed; and b) he was a Republican Voter
and she gave him our literature while the cops charged him!
This Patriot admitted his fault and also promised to vote for us!

Then, after returning our favorite rental to Hertz, we hiked out to Pensacola
in the old clunker this morning to visit with the Retired Teachers. THIS WAS A
TOUGH GROUP ... composed mostly of folks who didn't want to hear about
anything but "More Benefits" & less accountability for Teachers! But it
was fun to hear some of the local candidates twisting themselves into
pretzels to explain their recent Florida House votes impacting "Teacher Merit
Pay" & the like.

I was so glad to run into my good friend & Great Buddy, Mr. Joe
Cantrell!
Joe is a candidate for local office, I met him in Jay and have seen him
various places on the campaign trail.
He is a fabulous American Patriot, has a speech that is VERY Learned, based
on a booklet he wrote entitled: "Betrayed: Don't Tread On US!" He is an AMAZING
self-educated rural citizen; just what "down-home" America is all about! As you
can imagine He's got it ALL FIGURED OUT. Talk about SMART!
We need more people like Joe in office!

The Ladies kept a tight grip on all the details. No signs were allowed
inside. I left my "No-Obama-Care" placard in the foyer. But even so it irritated
a number of attendees who refused to take any hand-outs, and wouldn't
even discuss what they thought about the Health-Plan with me! Oh well.
These events are interesting: The all-GOP ones are friendly (except for the
occasional Rubio supporter), the ones in the retirement communities are a mixed
bag (representing all political parties). But this appeared to be a mostly
democrat affair (teachers); and they were generally tense in response to GOP ideas.

We had a small half-table and a few people visited for booklets.

Here's Joe speaking. He never can get it finished in time! (I
have his article).
But what about the Lincoln-Douglas Debates? They lasted for HOURS.Those were
the good old days of politics. No 'Sound Bites' in 'them times'!
I've gotten so accustomed to being squeezed into a couple minutes that I
didn't even use my allotted 5 minutes or whatever!
<<< My Speech.
GOODBYE PENSACOLA TEACHERS
'RETIREES'!
After this event, I had to go sit (below) in my favorite "Red Lobster" in Fort Walton
Beach (Les and I had our wedding dinner there), swallow three quick cups of
coffee and chow down on a Strawberry Cheesecake. Gosh that feels better! At
least the water in Pensacola Harbor didn't look too oily. Hmmm. Tomorrow we're
off to Melbourne via a newspaper interview in Tallahassee; then back to FWB for
the Emerald Coast Tea-Party Constitution Rally, Saturday noon; then another
Tallahassee event Saturday late PM; and finally the 35th. Campaign Church-Visit
on Sunday. (Will Marco show up to the Tea Party Rally? Don't hold your breath!)

God Bless America!
Bill
