| 12 June 2010 ~ PANHANDLE WHISTLE-STOP TOUR TO VICTORY ~ 2010 Chipley; Bonifay; De Funiak Springs; Liza Jackson Park, FWB; Gulf Breeze & Pensacola
CHIPLEY: Train Depot ~ Breakfast biscuits 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
BONIFAY: Bonifay Recreation Center 10:15 AM – 11:15 AM
Well, this was quite a day! It was a real early start to drive the hour and a half or so up to the 9 O'clock kick-off in the small town of Chipley. (And I didn't get back home until SIX SPEECHES LATER, at about 7:30 PM, following a 250 mile round trip!) But it was great "Candidate Training." As you can see in the photos above there was a very informal but engaged group gathered around to hear us talk at the first stop in Chipley. The crowd thinned out significantly after the "main event" (Rick Scott, the multimillionaire candidate for Florida Governor) quickly spoke and departed. The rest of us ... well, you get the picture. In passing, I might mention that Scott, who is accused of being a party to HCA health-care fraud, is reliably reported to have spent $15 MILLION on TV ads alone in the last couple months! (Which is nothing compared to one of the California races where $90 Million in PERSONAL MONEY has been thrown into the pot!!) By way of comparison, I'm about to pass the 20 grand mark in personally funded expenses. (And I have one autographed $10 bill from a military doc whom I met at a tea-party rally which I'm keeping for a wall plaque when this is all over). But you know what? It's not about money from my perspective. It's about principle. And I'm not buying votes. It won't cost anyone a dime to mark the box for "Escoffery" AT THE TOP OF THE BALLOT for U.S. Senate/GOP Primary Candidate on August 24th. That's all I ask!!! But it's quite interesting how these events work: (Money Talks & 'Whatever-Else' Walks!) The order of presentations has nothing to do with "First-come ..." or "Alphabetic" or any scheme of equity. (Though they'll often take the important "State-Wide" candidates first). The "Big Guys" get center stage at the get-go; and everyone else fights for a spot. But, I will tell you: Bonifay, Fort Walton Beach & Pensacola were the most polite. (I especially appreciated the curtsey of Ms. Barbara Wall in getting me "on-stage" at The Liza Jackson Park, FWB; and I actually spoke about third in Pensacola). I wonder if Scott even showed at that location? I can assure you that Marco Rubio did not attend any of these events and in fact no-one has seen him at the various Panhandle Rallies. (All-said today was a blast, I met a number of great voters; and I'm looking forward to the next "six-pack" in the Tallahassee area around the end of this month!) Listen for one of my speeches in the background on this page after it loads in a couple minutes.
De Funiak Springs: De Funiak Springs Lake Yard Pavilion ~ Entertainment and a cake auction 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
That's Rick Scott whom I mentioned, \/ directly below, second from left (... doin' his thang; and tellin' us that his daddy was a 'bus driver').
LIZA JACKSON PARK, FWB: Liza Jackson Park ~ Patriot Hot Dog vendor 2:15 PM – 3:15 PM
This event at Liza Jackson Park, Fort Walton Beach, FL was the very best of all six stops on the "Whistle-Stop Victory Tour!" Thank you, Ms. Barbara Wall, President, OCREC! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you let the audio load - you will hear one of my speeches about the time you finish viewing the photos on this page. Thanks for your interest!!!
GULF BREEZE: Gulf Breeze Park 3:45 PM – 4:45 PM
PENSACOLA: Plaza de Luna 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
