This was a great event put on by the North Okaloosa Republican Club under the chairmanship of retired military patriot Ben White! The Hob-Nob was held at Mrs. B's BBQ in Crestview starting at 3 PM local time. IT WAS HOT. (In more ways than one). The temperature was up in the low-mid nineties and the sky as clear as crystal! And there I was in my almost black, pin stripe suit and hat. -- Out in the open, without a tent. (Somehow I had got the idea that this was going to be INSIDE). I mean, the invite did say "Mrs. B's BBQ"; and this last time I visited with NORC they had their meeting inside the particular restaurant we attended! ESCOFFERY 'Campaign' VEHICLE (191,000 miles and it'll do 128 MPH!)
Silly Me!!!!!!! (I don't blame the organizers; shows what a neophyte I am!) But this was so hot that one of the guests had heat exhaustion (ambulance below) and I attended him briefly until the paramedics arrived! But it was a fabulous, patriotic get-together. The speeches were delivered with gusto from a stage in the shade. I was very well received and folks even offered me cover under their tents. Fortunately I was able to move the car behind my small table, leave the engine idling and retreat into the air-conditioning from time to time! Thank you Ben and all the other great GOP Patriots for the opportunity to present my campaign to Crestview, Florida!
