ENERGY POLICY:
Right now our nation is hooked on fossil fuel. We cannot immediately change
this addiction. We must ensure that we do not paralyze our economic machine by
attempting to transition out of OIL & other carbon-based products
prematurely.
Similarly, we must stop our dependence on foreign oil, to protect our
national independence and military response-capability, by utilizing our own
natural fuel resources in the interim.
Therefore I am an advocate of the slogans: "Drill, baby, drill!" and "All of
the above!"
That means resume offshore drilling ASAP (get Hussein's hands off of our
spigots in the Gulf), utilize our shale-oil and coal resources to the max; while
concurrently increasing fuel economy standards AND developing ALL forms of
ALTERNATE RESOURCES. Of course, we must enforce the safety protocols which were
neglected in the recent gulf disaster so as to prevent an unlikely recurrence of
similar problems.
But we must do much more.
The French meet almost all their energy needs with nuclear power. We need to
get off the pot and resume that program in the USA right now. We must push
forward on ALL ENERGY SOURCE FRONTS SIMULTANEOUSLY. That means: Solar, Wind,
Wave and anything else you can think of.
I am a great believer in Solar Power. The sun will be around as long as our
Solar System and The Earth last!
I clearly remember my Dad building a simple solar water heater for our home
in Jamaica as far back as 1969 (with little more than copper tubing on a copper
sheet in a glass-enclosed housing) -- which was so powerful it blew up the tank!
I also had an uncle in California who toured Europe at around that time in a
battery-operated Model-T Ford which he had outfitted with solar panels on the
uniquely suitable flat roof.
So let's get on with it. But no "Cap & Trade" tax on American energy use
associated with give-aways to the third world! Remember that Mr. Obama is
embarked on an attempt to absolutely break the back of America's financial
structure so that he can introduce & enforce Marxist/Socialist policies (or
